Van Nguyen, Your suggestion is absurd. Cpq nor Dell would ever consider buying AMD. Please read Groves book Only the peroinoid survive. In it he show the old model vertical intergration vs the new model. The old IMB and then Apple are examples of the old model. CPQ and Dell are examples of the new model for sucess. Why would they pisss in the soup pot by an intrigration move? IMB on the other hand uesd to have a substantial investment in Intel up to 40% at one time, but considered it a poor investment. They would look really stupid bidding for AMD. Now consider Motorola, Rockwell, Texas Instruments all three are giants with cash to burn. I have eleminated SA Thompson due to their fab arrangement with Cyrix now National Semi. If you want a forign name TSM from Tiawan, as soon as they get their IMF funding package. Japanees banks will be under preasure go get large deal money out of Japan and already finance TMS on other investments. I'll throug in two both from germany, Seimans and Delemar Bens Mercedes as Germany's leading manufacturing company is looking for hi-tech oppertunities. They make more than just cars. The new AMD german fab in Dresden will give them the necessary exposure for the possibility. Who's next?
