Tom, my futures broker asked me if I used charts. He said I kept buying and selling exactly on one minute buys/sells, on his chart. I don't use charts, however. I try to buy/sell on extremes. If everyone is selling, and I don't think anything changed, I'll buy.

Theory: The herd changes direction and gets frightened if they are caught in a futures position in the wrong direction. As they all sell/buy on this short-term turn, the futures go up or down more then they should. I try to buy at that point. The point where they are getting lousy fills.

On crazy days with a lot of volatility, it is almost impossible to tell what will happen, so you are probably better off staying out.

I've found my best success in the morning.
