The board has sort of died. Even Zeev has disappeared. He seemed to be gleefully talking the stock down, though he insisted that his modus operandi isn't to short, but rather to buy at an extreme low point, and hold on for the rebound. Maybe since it never broke below 1, he lost interest.

I've been thinking of selling some for a tax loss, and then buying back in 31 days so it won't be a wash sale. However, I'm afraid that with my luck, the stock would explode upwards during that time. Any thoughts on the likelihood of that?

I don't think this one is a terminal short, but I don't think it will go anywhere until it starts announcing good earnings, or a buyout. We know earnings aren't due for quite a while, but a buyout is always possible at any time.
