A few questions.
Good post. I gather you got this information from the investor conference a couple of weeks ago.
1. When are the Telstar 6 & 7 scheduled to go up, I presume late in 1998? When were they originally scheduled to go up, I believe it was in 1999?
2. Did Loral give there estimates of whether they would be profitable in 1998? I see this as being fairly significant psychologically, for the stock. There have not been too many estimates for 1998 since Orion and Satmex. I know Readware gave his estimate at around $.63/share for 1998, but indicated he would wait before doing a full blown forecast until any other potential acquisition before end of q1 1998.
3. Was anything mentioned about future acquisitions? I know that any details would be kept confidential. However, 1997 was clearly a year of building the infrastructure, and was wondering if management gave indications of a continuation in 1998 and beyond.
4. I believe one thing holding the stock back somewhat is the analysts inability to grasp Loral's potential. As it stands now, Loral has the following recommendations:
Strong Buy 1
Moderate Buy 1
Hold 3
Did Loral give any indication of how hard it is working for analysts coverage and potential upgrades. I am sure they will come in due time, but I do think having the 3 holds upgrading to moderate or strong buys would cause a significant jump in and of itself.
5. I have heard several different time frames for Cyberstar starting business, from end of 1997 to 1st qtr 1998. Did management give any idication of when this will happen? Also, any mention of an internet partner anywhere? A lot of people got excited about that a few months back, but then conversation dies since no one knew when it would be announced or who it would be.
Again, thanks for the post, looks like Bernie's plans are coming together. 1997 was a huge year for Loral, even though the stock price was lower than some expected at almost year-end. Look back just one year ago, and Loral owned 51% of a manufacturer and was partner in Globalstar. I can almost see the annual report introduction now...
