My problem with the new subscription model is the price. For Photoshop alone it will be $10/mo for the first year if one owns CS5, 5.5 or 6. But then it goes to $20/mo or maybe higher. My upgrade to CS6 cost me $170. I have usually upgraded every other version at an average annual cost of about $85, not $240. For an amateur, that's not an insignificant difference. Fortunately, I do most of my editing in Lightroom which, at least for the time being, remains a discrete product. I suspect not for long, though.

Adobe has a huge piracy problem worldwide. Subscription is one, perhaps the best, way to combat it.
