Everyone seems to say that the minimum CPU for voice recognition is a 166MHz cpu, MMX not required. I don't have any firsthand experience to say what the benefits of a faster CPU would be. Much probably depends on the overall system (95/NT and other software), how much memory and if your personal use habits are to run multiple applications at once, also, are you on a network or standalone. There are a lot of variables.

In addition to voice recognition, I think that video conferencing is set to take off. The new Connectix VC product, coupled with Microsoft NetMeeting gives you complete color two way video conferencing for $100 per station. They are also recommending a minimum processor requirement of 133 to 166 MHz, but, again, many (but possibly not all) users will need/want more.
