Is it because it's a white man, holding an umbrella for a black man, who happens to be his Commander 'n Chief? If the man at the podium was Reagan, say, right after he let 200 Americans die in Lebanon un-avenged, would you feel the same?

Let's break your comment into two parts. It's too wacky and contorted to consider as one concept.

(1) No, it's because Marines were not trained to be menial servants. I don't know this Marine, but I strongly suspect that, simply because he is a U.S. Marine, Barack Obama isn't fit to shine his shoes.

Reagan would never have asked a Marine to hold an umbrella over his head during a news conference.



(2) One of the primary aspects of the definition of a 'racist' is:

one who injects skin color, or race, into arguments, or observations, in which neither is relevant.
