I would like to see smaller government- and get rid of some of the pork the republicans so love. There is waste in our government, and I'd like to see that gone. I can live with it- and imagine that it is welfare for the middle class government servants who run these programs, and the relatively wealthy folks who get the money, and hope that some of it trickles down- but I don't think trickling on the poor is particularly effective, so I'd rather waste was trimmed, and money was spent where we need it.
I am pro business- unless businesses want to ruin the environment, poison us all, or kill their workers. So I'd like to see business regulation a little less onerous- where it does not impact the environment, health or safety.
And I hate the tax code. I'd like to see simplification. I know that would hurt the legions of CPA's out there, but surely we could find them another occupation, that doesn't involve torturing everyone in America over their taxes.
But on the environment, on education, on reproductive rights, on access to health care, and on equality, I'm very liberal.
I'm conservative on a few other things as well. Because children do better with two parents, I'm for the state and feds encouraging 2 parent families, especially in the minority community, in any way they can. The scourge of the single parent family is one of America's biggest problems. We could find a way to fix it, if we made it less of a moral problem, and more or a practical health and safety and success problem, which is what it is. |
