West Cirque Resources (WCQ-V) - project generation - starts 2013 exploration at Castle, others

May 22, 2013 - News Release

West Cirque Resources Ltd. has commenced its 2013 field season, embarking on what it anticipates will include multiple exploration campaigns covering several of its prospective copper-gold porphyry projects located in British Columbia's prolific Quesnel and Stikine terranes.

The company is particularly enthusiastic about a planned follow-up program for its Castle copper-gold property located 25 kilometres northwest of Imperial Metals' Red Chris mine development project and 15 kilometres west of Colorado Resources' recent high-grade porphyry discovery at the North Rok property.

West Cirque will continue to emphasize a "project generation -- joint venture" business model with a focus on identification and early exploration in B.C.-based porphyry copper-gold prospects.

Freeport-McMoRan of Canada Ltd. earn-in agreement; Castle-Tanzilla-Pliny (northwestern British Columbia)

In March, 2013, West Cirque and Freeport-McMoRan of Canada entered into an agreement to explore West Cirque's Castle, Tanzilla and Pliny properties. Freeport can earn an initial 51-per-cent interest in the properties by financing cumulative expenditures of $8-million over a four-year period. West Cirque will act as initial operator of the properties under the earn-in. West Cirque holds a 100-per-cent interest in the Tanzilla and Pliny properties, jointly comprising 8,032 hectares, as well as a 100-per-cent interest in 431 hectares at Castle in addition to 603 hectares under option from Bearclaw Capital Corp.

Castle:

  • 5.5-kilometre-long alteration zone with high-grade gold-silver at surface (historic samples up to 138 grams per tonne gold, 434 grams per tonne silver);
  • High-K calc-alkalic porphyry copper-gold system similar to Red Chris, GJ (Teck Resources) and North Rok;
  • Phase-one drilling (six drill holes, 1,777 metres) intersected broad zones of gold enrichment (up to 0.30 gram per tonne gold over 292 metres) over one-kilometre strike length;
  • Drill intercepts up to 1.015 grams per tonne gold over 34 metres and 0.37 gram per tonne gold and 0.10 per cent copper over 50 metres;
  • All drill holes intersected strong porphyry-style alteration and mineralization in a monzodiorite intrusion;
  • Subsequent mag, IP and mapping have outlined significant targets for phase-two drilling.
Tanzilla:

  • Large (two by seven kilometres) alteration zone with silica-advanced argillic lithocap associated with monzonite porphyry intrusions and extensive copper mineralization;
  • Large (one by 2.2 kilometres) strong chargeability high underlying and flanking lithocap;
  • Historical trench assays up to 0.76 per cent copper, 0.12 gram per tonne gold, 21 grams per tonne silver over nine metres;
  • No published record of historical drilling.
Pliny:

  • High-grade quartz-chalcopyrite stockwork mineralization discovered in 2011;
  • Mineralized zone traced for 325 metres;
  • Associated with a polyphase intrusive complex (diorite porphyry, monzonite, syenite) with alkalic affinities and a 1.8-by-1.4-kilometre magnetic high reflecting widespread magnetite veining;
  • Grab samples of vein, stockwork and disseminated mineralization range from 248 parts per million to 8.65 per cent copper and 0.001 to 5.23 grams per tonne gold (West Cirque samples, 2011-2012).
Quesnel trough porphyry projects (100 per cent WCQ)

Aspen Grove (copper-gold-silver):

  • Historic copper belt with excellent infrastructure and road access in south-central British Columbia between the Afton and Copper Mountain mines;
  • Exploration resurgence catalyzed by entry of major mining companies, Xstrata and Sumitomo;
  • Compilation of historical data has documented eight significant mineralized zones on the property;
  • Historic results include drill intercepts of 0.86 per cent copper, 44 grams per tonne silver over 20 metres (Par prospect, Tormont Mines, 1964) and 0.22 per cent copper over 40 metres (Ketchan Lake prospect, Adera Mining, 1966);
  • Continuous chip sample trench results of 0.38 per cent copper over 15 metres (Thalia prospect, Cominco, 1978); 0.30 per cent copper over 25 metres (Zig 3 prospect, MineQuest, 1990); 0.8 per cent copper over 9.1 metres (Daisy prospect, B.C. Ministry of Mines, 1928); 0.27 per cent copper over 55 metres (Coke prospect, Ruskin Developments, 1976).

Heath (copper-gold-silver):

  • Located in the Hogem batholith 30 kilometres south of the Kwanika deposit (142 million tonnes of 0.31 per cent copper and 0.29 gram per tonne gold indicated resource) and 74 kilometres northwest of the Mt. Milligan project (482 million tonnes of 0.20 per cent copper and 0.39 gram per tonne gold proven and probable reserve), presently under development by Thompson Creek Metals;
  • Previously explored by Amax (1968-1969) and Teck (1989-1991);
  • Well-documented Teck database (mapping, rock and soils sampling, IP, magnetics, drilling);
  • Two-by-2.4-kilometre copper-gold-silver soil anomaly with up to 4,902 parts per million copper, 1.1 grams per tonne gold and 27.8 grams per tonne silver in soils (Teck, 1989);
  • Anomalous platinum and palladium (for example 0.23 gram per tonne platinum and 0.78 gram per tonne palladium over 4.43 metres in Teck drill hole 91-H-04, 26.05 to 30.48 metres);
  • Untested 0.5-by-1.7-kilometre central target area with historical rock samples up to 7.46 per cent copper, 4.7 grams per tonne gold and 1,341 grams per tonne silver and WCQ grab samples (2012) ranging from 113 parts per million to 2.77 per cent copper, 0.007 to 0.17 gram per tonne gold, less than 0.005 to 0.38 gram per tonne platinum, 0.012 to 0.38 gram per tonne palladium, 0.1 to 21.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.71 to 306 parts per million molybdenum;
  • Old cat roads provide access to core of zone.

Historical assays cited should not be relied on as they have not been verified by West Cirque even though they have been cited from sources believed to be reliable. West Cirque's rock samples from the Pliny prospect have been reported previously (news release Aug. 10, 2011). West Cirque's rock samples from the Heath project were analyzed at Inspectorate Exploration and Mining Services Ltd.'s ISO 9001:2008-certified laboratory in Richmond, B.C. Samples were analyzed for gold by fire assay with AAS finish, for platinum and palladium by fire assay and ICP finish, silver by atomic absorption with aqua regia digestion, and for a 50-element suite by ICP using a four-acid digestion. Overlimit copper was analyzed by atomic absorption with four acid digestion. Inspectorate's quality control program ensures that at least 10 per cent of all analysis are for quality control purposes, including sample duplicates, reference materials and blanks. For all assay determinations, including gold, certified reference materials are implemented into the assay quality control program. West Cirque's disclosure of a technical or scientific nature in this news release has been reviewed and approved by John Bradford, MSc, PGeo, and vice-president, exploration, and director for West Cirque Resources, who serves as a qualified person under the definition of National Instrument 43-101.
