..I participated in a riot in Houston in the mid 1970's. I went to a Sunday rock concert in Milby Park with a friend from that had moved from Austin to Houston. They had been holding this thing every Sunday for several years with no problem. My buddy wanted me to check out the "drug market" that happened adjacent in some woods. There were people selling any sort of drug you wanted, shouting "weed", "acid", "speed" to the strolling customers.

That particular Sunday, the Houston PD decided to crack down. They arrested some of the dealers, and the THREE narcs that did it were surrounded by a mob from the concert. They locked three of the dealers in the back of their unmarked car, and locked a fourth in the trunk! They had their guns out, when suddenly someone shouted "You're going to need those guns, motherfucker!" and the crowd began pelting them with rocks! They got in the front of the car and called for backup.

Soon the part was filled with helmeted Houston cops with nightsticks the size of skinny softball bats. They chased people down and beat the crap out of them, arresting many. My buddy and I slipped away..
