A doctor who is not that great but over utilizes diagnostic testing likely compensates for so so skills.It is skill in prescribing the correct meds,accessing risk/benefits,being able to predict the future of medicine by using ones knowledge of physiology and the latest in scientific knowledge,and being able to think outside the box that make a great doctor.I have seen few if any great doctors without a high IQ
