This bothered me when I posted it. As far as I know, InvenSense have not integrated their sensors with GPS, even though there was a GPS effort at one point. I seriously doubt that Chadwick-Dunn knows of what she speaks.

MEMS sensors allow one to determine a change in position or a change in attitude, but they cannot by themselves give a absolute position like GPS. A magnetometer (compass) can give a good orientation if it can accurately sense the earth's magnetic field, but it too cannot provide a "user's position."
