Luzco is absolutely on target that flash is not going to fully replace HDDs any time soon. But he does not address the issue that flash is tending to compete with the higher-margin portions of the HDD business. In PCs, the use of hybrid drives reduces the need for high performance from the HDD portion of the drive. In servers, the high-performance storage will tend towards SSDs. I'm not trying to suggest that HDD companies will not see healthy sales for years to come, but over time their role looks to be tending towards storage of less-actively-used data.
