The Church has always tried to find a way to bridge the "creator" of all, the all powerful and knowing God as engineer and gather, with science. It doesn't work. One system requires evidence to draw conclusions, its as simple as that. Some religions do teach tolerance, usually liberal; they reject the literal biblical foundation but live by the Golden Rule and see Jesus story as as one about the Prince of Peace; not American Exceptionalism or assault weapons, a God who requires submission and acceptance of social injustices. They promote science and critical thinking to solve problems -- they can be atheist and still have secular human values that are much higher on morality than your typical Evangelicals both snake oil salesman and sheep.
