5/31/13 Contest Update
It may be just a coincidence, but some malevolent creature decided to blow out the candles of the stock market rally on the final day of my birthday month. Nonetheless, despite today’s trouncing, both the broad market and biotechs wound up only marginally lower for the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 24.03% YTD (vs. up 25.16% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 30.84% (vs. up 31.94% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.45% YTD (vs. up 14.56% YTD a week ago).
BLADE’s portfolio, up 60.91% YTD, maintained a comfortable lead, with FILO’s portfolio, up 49.85% YTD, leapfrogging into second place and BIOJIM’s portfolio, up 48.17% YTD, slipping to third place.
At Friday's close, 38 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the black with 13 of the 39 beating the NBI.
