The government's total investment in the Internet was insignificant, however. I really can't think of much else government does for me other than the functions I support. The Dept of Education could croak tomorrow and children in our locality wouldn't know the difference. I don't mind paying for defense, property taxes or even state income taxes. But I feel totally screwed every time I do my personal tax return.
