There's definitely a value-added component to high-quality synthetic graphite. And that high-grade stuff starts with high-grade pitches and cokes, which I understand are available in shrinking quantities, year-on-year. So that sounds like an excellent opportunity.

I found some arc furnace electrode components supplied by Graftech, which they were selling at $37k/tonne. In contrast, I found cheap Chinese electrodes going for $2500/tonne. The success of Graftech suggests that you get what you pay for. Or, perhaps, you have to pay for what you get.
