It's all been lost in this ridiculous "free market" worship. Even Alan Greenspan, the ultimate free marketeer, had to admit that a free market DOES NOT regulate itself, despite what he'd believed his entire life. As if it's the MARKET that's rewarding these executives and investors. As I just pointed out to Dave, a "free market" brought us slavery. I just read that Citigroup WROTE 70% of the new banking regulations! I know from my corporate career that executives all sit on each other's boards of directors, get a nice additional check, and set each other's compensation, with the most furious mutual back-scratching imaginable. Unless it reverses, it will end badly.
