One thing that intrigues me about Pythagoras greatly, why his emphasis on not eating meat? This vegetarianism beyond scoffing as a hippie's thing since one of humanity's greatest minds did choose to stress this. We see human sacrifice early on with the Egyptians & perhaps early Babylon , we always see animal sacrifice take center stage on into Greece, Rome & still done enmasse at the temple in Jerusalem by the Jews.

We see animal sacrifice appearing historically in almost all cultures & then there seems to come a time for change as we see in the mind of Pythagoras & his contemporaries over in India with Buddha or the Jains .We see the final human sacrifice with Jesus which is enough to really attone once & for all for all mankind's sins? One easily gets the idea to really atone for something one must give up something, but there's also the idea of transferrence of ones sin into the animal , then one could regain some forgiveness in the eyes of the diety.

So what changes do we see here as men evolve, mature intellectually & reason more? Jesus didnt say much about it one way or the other as i remember (strange he should so omit commenting? ), there was still vast numbers of animals being killed in his tribes temple, Buddha condemns this practice as did Pythagoras 500yrs earlier, ahead of their time?

Some greater change is occurring here, part of the great ID plan?
