It still contradicts your assertion that taxation has never been lower. The truth is that the progressive tax curve has become sharper in recent years. While taxes for the lower 50% have indeed gone down, taxes for the upper 50% have gone up. But in the context of taxation, the upper 50% is where the taxable income is, and that's why it's reasonable to say that taxes have gone up.

Once you figure out that taxes on the wealthy are indeed higher than before, you might start letting go of the notion that government is good at redistributing wealth. But that's only if you're open-minded enough to let go of your class warfare dogma.
