The "God" you seek is not a God thats "out there" , which is what the philosopher is trying to say to you. The true scripture or "script" is inside our own psyche's which was the great discovery of the Greeks which was the existence & exploration of the human psyche itself, what we refer to as our "nature" which the Greeks started looking more deeply at the "internal."
Our nature always begins & rises out of our naturally wired states, from undeniable heirarchy of needs that are expressed with every human being. Those needs that are universal regardless of the social/cultural context evry human must have. And believe me they are very rudimentary, elemental and not that profound really but absolutely powerful and cannot be denied. That Greek philosopher is as much or more a prophet in his own right by what he's trying to tell you, which is --->there is "No God Out There". There are much better places to look and science is really looking hard now in those areas.
There is only what is internal within you, we are complicated beings after all, much going on inisde that needs to be schooled/trained, ruled & disciplined. One doesn't need ancient scripture to remind of all these human needs, of wise observances & restraints. You want to find God, you know where to look , and yes it can be in a church, it can also be in a science lab, it can be out in a field or in a high rise skyscraper.
Why would act or feel anymore holy spirit at church than in your own bathroom? |
