Brixton Metals (BBB-V) begins phase one exploration at Thorn, approved up to $2-million in exploration expenditures for the phase one 2013 exploration program
June 4, 2013 - News Release
Brixton Metals Corp. has started exploration for 2013 at the Thorn silver-gold-lead-zinc-copper project located in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. The board of directors has approved up to $2-million in exploration expenditures for the phase one 2013 exploration program, and crews have been mobilized to the Thorn project site. The program will consist of approximately 4,000 metres of NQ-sized core drilling, 1,600 soil samples, and geological and structural mapping. Drilling will be focused on expanding high-grade mineralization at the Oban and Camp Creek zones. Soil sampling will be conducted over the Oban extension, Camp Creek, Amarillo and Outlaw zones. In addition, the company is developing a structural model that will provide a greater understanding of the controls to the mineralization, which will assist in identifying drill targets.
Thorn project highlights (as disclosed in previous company news releases):
- Oban diatreme breccia:
- Oban zone hole 60 intersected 9.25 metres of 2,984.4 grams per tonne silver, 3.04 grams per tonne gold, 11.65 per cent lead, 3.42 per cent zinc and 0.53 per cent copper from 55.45 metres depth, within a broader interval of 95.08 metres grading 628 grams per tonne silver, 1.71 grams per tonne gold, 3.31 per cent lead and 2.39 per cent zinc from surface.
- Oban zone hole 84 intersected 123 metres of 190.68 grams per tonne silver, 1.19 grams per tonne gold, 3.25 per cent zinc and 1.74 per cent lead within 310 metres of 105.82 grams per tonne silver, 0.71 gram per tonne gold, 1.76 per cent zinc and 0.9 per cent lead from 26 metres depth. Hole 84 was drilled subnormal to hole 60.
- Oban style diatreme-breccia was encountered in drilling about one kilometre north of the known mineralization of hole 60. Three rock samples north of the Oban zone have returned between 1,169.5 and 1,297.9 grams per tonne silver. A total of 5,635.92 metres (combined historic and recent) in 44 holes have been drilled at the Oban zone.
- Camp Creek veins:
- B zone float sample 275978 returned 21.5 grams per tonne gold, 2,990 grams per tonne silver and 14.2 per cent copper.
- Camp Creek vein-float sample 206808 returned 24.14 grams per tonne gold, 1,066.7 grams per tonne silver and 9.18 per cent copper. Sample 206607 returned 19.48 grams per tonne gold, 1,634.7 grams per tonne silver and 17.35 per cent copper.
- Hole 54 at the Lagavulin vein intersected 1.75 metres of 7.14 grams per tonne gold and 245.4 grams per tonne silver, and 4.85 metres of 3.13 grams per tonne gold and 122.46 grams per tonne silver. The Lagavulin vein has a strike length of two kilometres and crosscuts the northeast trending Camp Creek vein sets.
Gary R. Thompson, chairman and chief executive officer, stated: "We are eager to get back to Thorn to follow up the many high-grade targets that exist on the property. While our main focus will continue to be the high-grade [targets] at the Oban zone, we will also be advancing some of the other attractive targets this season."
