Easy to see how the Church was able to gain ultimate political power by supplying the necessary superstitious rituals to comfort primitive people and assuage their fears. What an exciting life it would have been for greg or ee to live in such primitive times. Everybody would have agreed with his superstitions--OR ELSE!
