If you want to see the shining star and get some rec's in your inbox, write something wonderful! That assumes that a recommendation is an indicator that there's something wonderful in the post being recommended. That's not been typical on SI so far. It's usually an indicator of how large the sides are in the controversy du jour. If one wants to garner recommendations, and I don't know why anyone would, the best way is to say something mindlessly provocative on a busy thead.
