OTOH, never can I remember asking a WMT employee for help and being treated poorly. I don't go there much now but I did when I was younger. I tend to remember bad experiences with businesses of any kind, and I just don't remember it at all if anyone was anything but accommodating to me there.

You have not been in the store in South Florida, where we winter. First no one speaks english and when they do they are rude...I remember a woman answer my wife's question about a product location in the store by pointing to a sign overhead half way across the store and say "can't you read"? I guess it depends on where you are.

While the company is clearly the most technologically advanced retailer in the world, they're real prowess is in the understanding that pricing is everything to their customers -- and they negotiate suppliers to the thinnest of margins, as they should.

Having worked with a few WMT suppliers over the last ten years, WMT's supply chain management is impressive.

C'mon...it's economy of scale and size. When you are that big you can dictate terms to your suppliers that a smaller chain can't even dream of. A big customer of ours would required for instance that we carry inventory for them and deliver in real time, without must_buy obligations, leaving tons of risk on us...a smaller supplier could never negotiate such terms. When a customer gets that big it can almost bully a supplier into submission, on terms and price.
