'Share' Data for the US and elsewhere (1): comScore, Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, AdDuplex, Others ...
comScore, Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, AdDuplex and Others: Who, What, How, Frequency?
• Who are they?
• 'Share of What? (i.e. what 'Share' do they focus on and report?
• How do they collect their data? What methodology do they use?
• How often do they report and what period is covered in each monthly, quarterly, or occasional report?
• Do these reports complement or contradict each other?
I've been attempting to drill down and determine the answers to these questions for several months, and I've abstracted some of the data they contain as I've been doing so. Over the course of the next several weeks I'll post here (or on the Nokia board) some of the data I've collected in reasonably coherent fashion, and link back (thread back) to this initial post on the subject.
If any individual cares to comment, question, add to, or point out and/or correct anything that they feel I've posted may not be accurate, they are most welcome to do so. It is entirely possible that in abstracting some of the data to tables I construct that I have made typos, calculation or transposition errors.
In many of the tables I post I'll be focusing primarily on 'Windows' share, because it is rather difficult to separate the legacy Windows Mobile OS platform from the newer Windows Phone OS platform. The same applies to the BlackBerry OS because RIM (soon to be BlackBerry) is now shipping smartphones with both a legacy OS, and an entirely new OS. The battle for 3rd in the platform and ecosystem wars is very interesting to me.
Other individuals may wish to focus more on the platform/ecosystem battle between OHA's and Goggle's Android OS platform and Apple's iOS platform (which I do not intend to ignore) and contribute accordingly.
