You may be right that ASND pop was because of the better est and visibility; I just wonder how much was due to short covering on the buyouy rumor.
It still does not explain COMS pop because with the standard in place the only expectation behind the pop is probably those who were not buying because of a lack of standard will start doing so adding to the revenue; however, it is unclear if that is going to change the basic revenue growth rates significantly projected for these companies and also ingnores the slowdown we will see from ASia completely.
I agree that for the long term (beyond 1 year) this may be good news but when was the last time we saw wall street looking at the long term picture? ;-)

I think most of ASND gains are due to blessing of current est. and better visibility
announced at DMG conf. yesterday and the news today that a 56k standard is coming
soon.

If the gains were due only to buy out rumors, why would COMS be up after warning a
few days ago with no other news out ? The 56k standard definitely helps both COMS and
ASND. Anything that gets ISP's and consumers to upgrade to 56k is a positive for all
networkers.
