David gets fired for the second and third time!!

In June 97 I represented Quadrax at the trial brought by Power Stick. I was the main witness even though I had started working for Q after the deal was done. I spent 3 hours in deposition and 4 hours on the witness stand, as well as sitting at counsel's table for the whole shebang!

The day that the machine was seized by Power Stick, I was fired by Palermo (firing #2). As Larry Michaels reports, the next day Palermo begged me to stay. With his hand on the Holy Bible, Jim said he had made a mistake. He promised me full control of hockey again and that the new machine would actually be bought. Palermo reneged on his first promise but he did keep the second.

In August the tension between Palermo and Mike Dorf came to a head and Mike was fired. In September, without Mike, management at Quadrax was in total anarchy. Jim Palermo said he was taking day-to-day control but told us managers "You know what to do, don't bother me - I will be too busy making mergers and acquisitions." ......

We went through two management re-organizations in two weeks. In early October I sent Jim Palermo a memo stating that I would stay on for only three more months to get the new pultrusion machine up running and to see them through the second trial with Power Stick. Jim's answer was to have me escorted out of the building 3 days later!(firing #3)

Special note to Keith Santos;
I received no severance pay whatsoever and my salary at Q was in the normal range for a manager/engineer with my experience and a lot less than I could make at Boeing or Lockheed. As a member of the DNRC, however, I am not allowed to work for large corporations. :-) (If you want to join the DNRC see unitedmedia.com )
