I understand your concerns, particularly the monitor issue. I would imagine that there is a work around. Can't monitors run off Thunderbolt?

You can't have everything for cheap. Apple is trying to maintain profit margins while keeping the price reasonable.

Its a 1.2 Gig drive. Enough for most of what you need. Its a PCI SSD to so its going to be incredibly fast. I mean if you need to do a lot of reading/writing what's the bottle neck when you have a 12 core Xeon ES processor? You could put in 4 @ 12 cores without a speed boost, or any amount. Unless you are doing pure computational work like they do in genetics.

Those who need more storage can add slower but still very fast Thunderbolt 2 drives.

Its a trade off.

I didn't see where its SSD boot ONLY, are you sure? I can boot off any drive on my iMac.

Same with everything else. If you can afford a Mac Pro, you can afford a thunderbolt raid or an external optical. I do music so I need an optical, but otherwise I already have an external hard drive dock so an extra $100 for the optical. No biggie.

I'd love to have one of these. Sheech. For me it would be amazing.

My biggest gripe about my machine is 1) the mouse sucks and the Logictec mouse I bought doesn't work right 2) My machine crashes safari and sometimes the finder gets stuck and won't do a soft reboot. As always I hate animated ding dongs and gee gaws and I wish Apple would just make the OS more rock solid.
