At least they are hiring those people. Where else do you think they would get a job? Thank goodness for the big employers who employ the marginal and the not-so-intelligent. Work gives a person a sense of pride, and a stake in the community. While I wish Walmart would be a more responsible with health care, they are definitely conscious of societal trends (witness their attempt to go green, and their drive to carry more organic food).

Mc Donalds and all the fast food chains hire the same workers, as does Target, and the drug store chains,. and the super market- are you mad at them too? I'm glad our supermarket hires the retarded (the truly retarded, I'm not using retarded to mean "stupid")- because what else could they do? If they weren't bagging groceries, they'd be living in some group home somewhere glued to a TV, and that's no life at all.

I dislike the quality of many Walmart products, as I can find better products elsewhere, but I've actually made an effort to go there, since they started being more sensitive about public approval, and the environment. When Walmart goes environmental, it can be a big influence on other companies. So while they certainly could do better, as corporate citizens, they're not as bad as they were.

But I don't disagree with universal health care. That would make our US companies more competitive, lifting the burden of health care from them. And I'm a fan of education too- but not for useless subjects. However, I'd allow any students unlimited access to STEM classes, as long as they kept their grades up.
