Besides the practices of the lobbyists, those of insurers are also not kosher under the existing system. It is unfair to drop a sick person or deny pre-existing coverage. I changed my job several years ago. The insurance company of my new employer denied my wife coverage because she had a pre-existing condition: our second born was 5 months along the way. Surely Nancy Pelosi's statement does not sound as stupid as such a practice by any insurance company.
