If you check the header it says WDC/APM. Additionally the word leapfrog is quoted because it is your term. To me this is a natural progression. Actually I don't know if APM or RDRT would benefit, or if it doesn't matter. My story was more to the issue of WDC than APM. Guess I should have posted to WDC instead.

APM would benefit by going to GMR in that it has to build/upgrade it's lines anyways. My observation is strictly from a business viewpoint. If such a business decision were made, the technicians would make it work (or be unemployed).

From a business viewpoint it still makes sense to me for APM to do this. The choice is whether to upgrade the equipment/lines/products/training once in the next few years, or twice. I am not privy to their internal cost/benefit analysis, so I would be a fool to say they will or won't do it. It additionally make sense in that if WDC is in fact going to GMR with RDRT, APM will lose market share if they don't go to GMR now. Whether or not they say anything for or against publicly is irrelevant as there is no legal requirement for them to divulge their corporate strategy publicly. Now if they say it in a 10K or 10Q report that's a totally different ballgame.

Out of curiosity, what has WDC stated in the last few weeks to say they would not consider GMR? If you are referring to something over a month old, things have been changing so fast that to rely on old statements would be inappropriate.
