Interesting points Ted on what is going on beneath the surface. However crime is still here but the divide between rich and poor is so much wider. High prices for property and rents these days compared to the 1960's and 1970's keep so called 'undesireables' out like never before.

Much of Manhattan was quite inexpensive 35+ years ago.. Million dollar condos today were begging $20-30k at the bottom of the 1973-74 recession.

In Chicago is violence in the south side worse today than 35 years ago. What about within 'The Loop'?
