I don't disagree with any part of your analysis, including the need for Korea to make sacrifices as the price for an international aid package - though i'm sure they'll do everything possible to avoid making those sacrifices. My point was that the typical IMF recipe, calling for severe fiscal and monetary restraint, may carry dangers if (and it's a big if) deflation is indeed the major threat these days. As Japan has shown since the beginning of the decade, once the asset bubble is pricked it becomes very difficult to reflate successfully.
