Findyourspot.com Ukiah, CA

Although the cost of living is lower than in much of California, it is still higher than average in Ukiah, falling between 15-25% above the national average.

?Costs vary, with car insurance, utilities, and child care close to the national average and housing prices and groceries higher.Child care costs, for example, are on par with the national average. Parents will pay an annual average of about $6,500 for an infant at an accredited center and $5,500 for a four-year-old child. More than a half-dozen government-subsidized Head Start programs operate in the city, making the cost of child care even lower for some families.

Housing, on the other hand, is slightly higher, although relatively inexpensive compared to California cities further to the south. The average selling price for a home in Ukiah is about $432,000. This affordability translates into a high homeownership rate - nearly half of all residences are owner-occupied.

For the remaining people who rent, average monthly rents are only $800 per month.

Incredible that home prices there are so high compared to incomes and rents. Many Florida towns with similar income and rents have median home prices well under $100k
