I have a strong feeling that Ascend will be sold eventually through the weak denial of the CEO and CFO. The telco also needs to get into the internet business as the phone and internet will become one. ASND is a company in trouble and it seems that there is a lot of pressure from the shareholders to have the company sold. But I think the acquisition will come suddently when people are least expected and at a price no more than $35/share.

Regarding the PCWeek magazine review of NBase/Bay switches, the only complaints about the NBase switch are that you have to make 32 entries in the setup table instead of specifying "all" and do it once, and the switch reverts to half duplex when set up for full duplex. The first problem is minor as Dan points out, you only need to do this setup once every few years. The second problem may be has something to do with the auto-sensing, may be PCWeek didn't turn it off properly and the software automatically reverts to half duplex. Nevertheless, these seems to be all software problems if there are any, and it's always fixable. The article still described the NBase switch as the cheapest, fastest, and reliable in term of no packet dropping. And it's a privilege that NBase got reviewed alone with BAY in a prominent national magazine, so is NBase aka MRV in the major league now?
OK, as a major shareholder of the company with 500 shares, I will e-mail this article to NBase to their attention. I think the problem that PCWeek describes is minor, nevetherless the customer is always right and NBase needs to do something to address the (perceived) problems.
