PV, You noted I said portfolio "PROTECTION" and not insurance... this is because an alternative to a 100% (200%?) portfolio investment would be a variable strategy where some monies would wander around your investment alternatives including bonds and money market (cash) instruments... based on "risk" or whatever you are protecting your portfolio against. Yes, LEAPS may be another alternative for some... Regards, Bill
