you don't know what you are talking about.

Go to a coal mine...union or non-union and 90% of the workers refuse to use respirators at the working face. And when they come out to fresh air at the end of the shift, the first thing they do is spark up a cigarette.

Unions don't do anything but give lip service to safety. The mine management in all but one mine that I have been in is obsessed with safety. There truly is a brother's in arms attitude to miners who work underground. And the vast majority of them wouldn't do anything but mine, given the option.

Miners are miners because they enjoy it. Not because they are forced. And every miner knows that it is dangerous to go underground. And every miner knows that his personal well being is ultimately his responsibility.

this is one of those times when you should not pretend to know something of which, you clearly have no understanding.
