This handsome fellow is yours truly. Most miners will never go into as many mines in as many different places as I have been. Most miners will work in one, two or maybe three mines in their entire life. And that will be their sum total of exposure to mining. I have been in about 70 underground mines and probably 100 surface mines. I have been in mines in California, Nevada, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Utah, Illinois, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Florida Canada, South Africa, Australia. I've spent time in coal, gold, copper, platinum, iron ore, trona and potash mines. And I am MSHA trained and certified (which mostly means that I got to see a bunch of videos of really gruesome mining injuries). In fact, I will be in two more mines next week (talc and gold). Still think I am making things up?
