Are you a company man? You look pretty clean to me.

Company men defend their masters, fight the unions and crack the whip on the real workers.

LOL! "company man"???? who uses terms like that? Is this the early 1900s or something?

No, I am not a "company man". I sell wireless networking equipment that saves miners' lives and makes the operation more efficient.

Want to know what my single biggest hurdle is? UNIONS!!! See, our stuff working in conjunction with some other vendor's tracking equipment can identify where any worker is within one meter. The MINER act of 2006 (as a result of the Sago Mine disaster) required that all underground mines have a way to track miners and provide voice communications to them. And it required a wireless network to do so. The MINER act has been altered tremendously, mostly due to the unions.

And what do the unions object to? Well, the tracking is good enough that they could give "man-down" notifications. Basically, if a miner goes prone and doesn't move for a set amount of time, an alert is sent so that help can be sent. One would think that is a great feature. Since most mining accidents happens in ones and twos instead of dramatic explosions that kill many miners at one time, the way to save the most lives is to go after the one or two guys who get hurt (or killed) in the roof falls or machinery accidents.

How on earth could the unions object to that? Welllllllll.....there isn't any real way to tell the difference between a miner taking a quick little 30 minute power nap and a real man-down situation. So the unions would put in a clause to the agreements with management that they couldn't use the information gathered from the tracking system against the union workers. Yup, you read that right, they would rather ensure their ability to take undetected naps than to save lives.

So when you talk about the greedy owners, remember this and realize that you don't know what the f*ck you are talking about.
