The arrogance of claiming to try to achieve the best results for every child is stunning. Some students are better equipped intellectually than others. Some have more support at home than others. Some are more motivated than others. School is supposed to be an arena where the best rise to the top. Perhaps because an education degree is considered to be the easiest college degree to earn it attracts those who are unable to compete in the real world. Maybe it is time to require a real degree first before they can go to education college. Firing a lousy teacher is almost impossible. It is time to turn the tables on the unions. Only when teachers are considered to be hired at will is it going to change.
