Honestly, my current understanding of the gold mining industry is superficial, and I don't want to add the complication of a royalty business model. So, if I don't have a list of small-cap miners, I'll probably just buy GDXJ, which appears to be approaching zero. This is a chart pattern I recognize from my years of studying TA as OhShitOhShitSellSellSell:
