What motorola home people had to keep up is the memory compression technology. Nor is only one bit. Nand started with 2 bits, now is only 3 bits. it could go to 8 bits compression. Then video recorder can be software changed to use new nand upto 8 bits. Software design is basically analog for frequency changes and data compression changes in the hardware.
