Wow. Just wow. Are you taking this position because you think she's been badly maligned, or simply because she is southern?
The odd thing is the number of blacks who have come out supporting her. It is astonishing that the white vocabulary patrol has ruled the "n-word" as one of only TWO words in the English language that are off limits, while blacks are for the most part, sensible about it.
Lets get down to basics and talk about what's really going on here. The n word is considered off limits because of what white southerners did to one particular race....the black race. In the South it was okay for one human being to enslave another human being, and use that human being as they saw fit. An entire economy was built on the backs of enslaved human beings. In addition to the physical, mental and sexual abuse these human slaves endured, in many instances, they were not allowed even the most basic of human rites...........like getting married. The black custom of jumping the broom came about because white slave owners would not allow their human slaves to marry in a ceremony..
Even after these human slaves were freed, the black human race continued to experience a century of discrimination........and they were denied many of the basic rights enjoyed by the white race. They were kept in ghettos, forced to go to separate schools, forced to use separate facilities, hung from trees, tarred and feathered and run out of town, torched to death, and even to this day, used as hunting sport by whites......esp in the South. The psychic damage of centuries of enslavement coupled with the damage suffered by another century of discrimination can not be measured but its significant.....something I don't think any of you realize.
So all I have to say to you wingers many of whom are southerners, how dare you question the prohibition of the n word. How dare you complain about affirmative action. How dare you whine that whitie isn't getting a fair shake. As for blacks using the n word, that's the one right blacks can exercise that whites never can. So get over it!
