Hi Taurus, I checked the VSE database for Friday December 5/97 and there is no record of them issuing a Halt on Donner. When I saw the original halt flash before my eyes it read "trading in the shares of Donner have been halted at the request of the company pending news."

A "pending news" halt is always issued by the company. In my opinion the VSE will have called Donner when things started to heat up and asked them what is going on. At that point the company usually halts its own shares or the VSE does it for them. A VSE generated halt would read something like this: "Trading in the Shares of Donner have been halted pending clarification of market activity."

Hope this clears this issue up. I believe that Donner was forced into halting their shares by the VSE and was probably unprepared for the afternoon action.

The fact that Donner didn't issue a news release after the market closed on Friday suggests to me they were not really ready to release one in the first place.

Still I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Best Wishes

Surething
