What I do believe is that it is impossible for a society to spend more on education than it will get back.

Then how do you explain the statistics, provided by the Dept of Education, showing that since 1970, inflation adjusted per student spending K-12 has tripled with no improvement in results. In 1970, we got the same result for 1/3 the cost. Every single extra $ was apparently wasted.
