I was hearing Geraldo talk about this a little while ago, and according to him, the FLA law doesn't even concern itself with who "started" the fight -- that if you start the fight but then come to fear for your own life you have the right to kill the other person if necessary to protect your own life.
"Stand Your Ground" is not applicable if "The person who uses defensive force is engaged in an unlawful activity ... "

I would imagine, if it can be proven that Zimmerman started the fight, an unlawful activity, then Zimmerman could not use "Stand Your Ground" as justification for shooting Martin.
