Negotiating the Deal ...

Zip,

<< Hopefully Elop, who was negotiating with Siemans, was overestimating Nok's cash burn a bit in order to get the sweet deal he achieved from Siemans. >>

Negotiating the aquisition and summarizing current preliminary estimates for the just concluded quarter and dealing with the cash impact issue in a Stock Exchange Release are two entirely different items. Elop and Ihamuotila have a well deserved reputation as straight shooters and one does not overstate sash estimates in a stock exchange release.

As you stated earlier ...

"This is a win-win situation. Siemans wanted out and Nok, which has been managing NSN, wanted in."

... and both wanted to conclude the matter and clear the decks in timely fashion. They did so, and I concur, it's a win-win Hats off to Elop and Ihamuotila as well as Peter Loescher and Joe Kaeser of Siemens AG as well as Rajeev Suri and Samih Elhage of NSN.

The good news is that the street took the news well and NOK/NOK1V is up about 4% post announcement despite what I view (is viewed) as a subtle warning on Q2 cash and cash impact. T'was best to get that out of the way as well.

Cheers,

- Eric -
