I guess it depends how you look at the numbers. I just ran through the 1980's DOW and it was up 6 times and down 4 in Dec in that period. Almost 50/50. Also if you look at the average increase in Dec then, it was 0.95%. If that holds true for this year, we have already passed the average increase.
