No, you are completely misunderstanding what we liberals believe and want. We think we know how to make a healthier and happier society.

In the 1920's there were millions in the KKK. Look at what Hitler did? We humans have a bad side to us and we liberals try to keep that side subdued in favor of peace and compassion.

We liberals believe if society helps people, that will be better for the person and society. If we help little kids get an education that helps the little kid and society.

To not help them is both mean and not very smart for society.

That is what the social scientists discovered and liberals believe.

Does that really sound that bad?

And there is also just plain old compassion. Go back tot the tribes we evolved from. They shared their kill and everyone had a different role, but a good tribe shared the food equally.

We liberals have been calling what you describe: "the Horatio Alger myth", for 40 years.
